ADASS position statement on visual impairment rehabilitation in the context of personalisation and RWPN Job description

20 December 2013

Some good news pre christmas.

We are pleased to be able to forward you the renewed position statement from the Association Of Directors of Adult Social Services on Visual Impairment Rehabilitation. It received approval from their executive committee last week and has been sent out to senior managers.

This originally version of this document went out in 2011. Since then the sightloss pathway has been issued which further cements the role of Rehab Worker in the care pathway. However, there have been some concerns from members that local authorities are still not clear about where rehabilitation fits in the personalisation process. This should clarify/re-enforce the message. In addition, this guidance is much more explicit about the need to appoint qualified workers and links this to the risks involved.

Also attached is the finalised RWPN Job Description for Rehabilitation Officer Visual Impairment.
