The Northern Ireland Vision Strategy is led by RNIB Northern Ireland to provide a united voice on eye health and sight loss.

Sight loss organisations in Northern Ireland come together in the VI Sector Forum. This grouping leads the development and implementation of a relevant programme of actions for Northern Ireland.

Northern Ireland Vision Strategy Partner Organisations

The Northern Ireland Vision Strategy Steering Group brings together sector organisations and officials from government departments and public bodies. Working in partnership, the steering group seeks to ensure that the needs of people with sight loss are addressed through effective policy development, consultation and implementation.

Membership of the All-Party Group on Visual Impairment

The All-Party Group on Visual Impairment at the Northern Ireland Assembly actively supports issues affecting people with sight loss in Northern Ireland. The All-Party Group meets quarterly to address issues of concern to people with sight loss and sector organisations.

Northern Ireland Vision Strategy Plans

Work under the auspices of the Vision Strategy has secured a number of successes for blind and partially sighted people in recent years. These range from the commissioning of eye clinic liaison services across Northern Ireland to advances in the accessibility of public transport and arts and leisure facilities.
Currently, VI Sector Forum members leading the development of a new action plan for Northern Ireland. During March and April 2018 there will be a series of engagement events to hear the views of blind and partially sighted people across Northern Ireland and those of family members and carers.
