Royal College of Ophthalmologists: Primary Care Ophthalmology Seminar

Date: 11 Nov 2019
Time: 12:00 am

This session chaired by Miss Stella Hornby will cover topics relevant for continuing Royal College of Ophthalmologists Logoprofessional development for general ophthalmologists, GPs with a special interest in ophthalmology and Optometrists with an extended role. Topics this year will include updates on thyroid eye disease, referral management schemes in ophthalmology and the role of tele-ophthalmology in primary care ophthalmology. We will also cover how to use social media to keep up to date (micro-learning) and a mini- workshop on the role of mentoring and buddying for GPs with a special interest and other ophthalmologists. We will round the day off with a series of interesting cases – the ever popular ‘Hornby’s Odd Ball Eye Cases’. The style will be friendly and interactive and would be relevant to any doctor (trainee or not) and/ or optometrist who sees general ophthalmology patients in a community or hospital setting and delegates will be encouraged to join in the discussion with questions or comments from their own experience. There is good opportunity for networking in the coffee and lunchbreaks.
