Key facts about vision impairment in children and young people

The key statistics about vision impairment in children and young people has been reviewed and updated by researchers at RNIB, Guide Dogs and Royal London Society for the Blind. This has been endorsed by the Vision UK Children & Young People with a Vision Impairment Committee and can be used to:

  • help plan the work of your service;
  • give evidence to commissioners; or
  • help others understand the numbers, needs and causes of vision impairment.

Note: The wording should not be altered in any way as doing so may make the statement incorrect.
