LOCSU loses out on DVLA tender

12 February 2014

The LOC Support Unit (LOCSU) regrets to announce that its bid on behalf of the majority of the sector to be the Prime Contractor for the Provision of Vision Testing Services for the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency (DVLA) has been unsuccessful.

LOCSU, with the support of Optometry Scotland, Optometry Wales and the Optical Confederation, submitted a highly competitive bid in response to the tender advertised by the DVLA which was based on delivering a managed network of optical practices and optometrists across England, Scotland and Wales.

Alan Tinger, LOCSU Chairman said “I and everyone associated with the bid are extremely disappointed with the outcome. The objective of our bid was to retain the management and delivery of this significant service, which operates across three nations, within our professions delivering high quality at an affordable fee.”
