RNIB releases street accessibility report

6 February 2015

RNIB has released a new report called ‘Who put that there!’ highlighting the growing problem of blind and partially sighted people getting injured due to street obstacles. Advertising boards, wheelie bins, cars parked on pavements and dangerous crossings all make it extremely difficult for people with sight loss to get around, and in many cases are causing injuries or leaving people isolated at home.

The report shows that a third of blind and partially sighted people across the UK had injured themselves when walking around their local areas. Overall, 95% of people said that they had collided with an obstacle.
