The Royal College of Ophthalmologists (RCOphth) wants its governance structure to be more open and responsive and is setting up a Shadow Trustee Board, which will become a formal Trustee Board subject to Privy Council approval.
The RCOphth is the only professional body for eye doctors, who are medically qualified and have undergone or are undergoing specialist training in the prevention, treatment and management of eye disease, including surgery. It has a membership of over 4,000 doctors in the UK and overseas and employs 30 staff.
We wish to appoint three Lay Trustees to oversee the financial and legal aspects of the RCOphth. We are particularly interested in people with strong business, strategy and economics skills who have gained experience in a variety of settings, including employment and voluntary work. This is a voluntary post with reimbursement of travel expenses. The RCOphth is a registered charity.
