Thomas Pocklington is a truly unique organisation. Working closely with partner organisations, our core mission is to generate better lives for people with sight loss and visual impairment. It is a rewarding sector to operate in and the opportunity now exists for a new Chief Executive – with the right skills, background and experiences – to lead us into a new future.
We work in an area where there are big challenges facing those with sight loss – from stretched public services and commonly held public assumptions about visual impairment to tightening budgets and challenges regarding the Charity sector in general. Our new Chief Executive will lead us through these challenges and ensure good and accountable leadership as you lead our staff team, impact our Board and act as a serious influencer of the issues affecting visual impairment.
You will have empathy with our goals and be able to articulate our mission to others – to Government, in the sector and with other organisations who influence our world. As a visionary, you will be able to develop a clear strategy and have clarity about how to put such a plan in place. The new Chief Executive will be an individual with a high quality and principled style of leadership who inspires others. In addition, we want someone who is happy handling large sums of money, knows how to account and hold others to account and who has gravitas and ambassadorial skills to influence others about Visual Impairment.
Finally, we are looking for someone who will be comfortable operating at the highest levels across the public, private and non-profit sectors to galvanise and bring together a wide range of stakeholders. Exceptional communication skills, an outstanding networker and influencer and possession of a high level of personal integrity and credibility are the attributes we will look for alongside everything else.
