Vision UK are pleased to announce David Hewlett, Group Director for Leadership, Transformation and Strategic Partnerships at the Federation of (Ophthalmic and Dispensing) Opticians as the new Chair of the Vision UK Public Perceptions of Sight Loss Panel.
The purpose of the Public perception of sight loss panel is to maximise the public understanding of eye health and sight loss in order to improve the nations sight. Also, to inform policy, ensure consistent messaging and aid forward planning and coordination.
David Hewlett Commented:
“I was delighted to be asked to take on the role of Chair for the Vision UK Public Perceptions of Sight Loss Panel. This is crucial work as there are so many mis-perceptions about sight loss, and eye health comes a long way down people’s (and hence governments’) priorities. I hope this will resonate with some of the work the European Coalition for Vision has been doing so that we can exploit synergies and maximise opportunities. I look forward to 2020 – the Year of Vision! – and to forming the work and priorities for the panel. What a challenge, but what vital work we have to do!”
Matt Broom CEO, Vision UK commented:
“We’re delighted David has agreed to Chair the Public Perceptions of Sight Loss panel. His knowledge, experience and enthusiasm are vital components for this essential work. Vision UK wants to make a difference to the lives of those with, or at risk of, sight loss and increase general knowledge of eye health and David is the ideal person to lead on this.”
