Vision UK is the independent partnership organisation which works with organisations in the eye health, sight loss sector and beyond for the benefit of blind and partially sighted people, their communities and the general population including those at risk of sight loss. Matt Broom joined VISION 2020 UK on 2011 to implement the organisation’s strategic plans and operations. He was promoted to CEO of Vision UK in June 2018.
Vision UK is pleased to announce that their CEO Matt Broom was given the Freedom of the City of London at a ceremony at Guildhall, London on 10 June 2019. For that day at least, he became their youngest Freeman! The Freedom of the City of London includes many who have achieved success, recognition or celebrity in their chosen field. The Freedom of the City of London can be gained through membership of a livery company or by direct application supported by a suitably qualified proposer and seconder.
Matt, who was also recently admitted to the Freedom of the Worshipful Company of Spectacle Makers (https://www.spectaclemakers.com/ ) said:
“It’s a genuine honour to receive this recognition and I’m very pleased to now be a Freeman of the city. It is remarkable to become part of such a long and distinguished history.
I hope through the connections made and with the excellent work of the Worshipful Company of Spectacle Makers, we can raise the profile of eye health and sight loss and the work of Vision UK and our partners working across eye health and sight loss.”
