We are looking for a collaborative leader who is unafraid of decision making to lead the Vision UK CYPVI Committee and ensure the views and needs of children, young people and their families are fully represented. You must therefore be prepared to be an ambassador for children and young people both within Vision UK and for Vision UK to outside organisations.
You will need to have a broad perspective extending beyond eye health and sight loss with particular expertise in the field of young people with disabilities and/or social care and education. You will have previous experience of chairing a committee, preferably through a period of change. It is desirable, though not essential to have experience of vision impairment.
Vision UK works in collaboration with its partners across the eye health and sight loss sector to deliver positive change for blind and partially sighted people. To enable this, we are focussing on four strategic areas:
- Evidence and statistics
- Research, cures and treatments
- Services, support and care
- Public perception of sight loss
Working groups will be established to support this work. The CYPVI Committee serves a unique function as it seeks to work across all four strategic areas.
The CYPVI Committee provides a forum for agencies to meet, establish a framework for vision impaired children and, where practicable, a means for joint commissioning of services. For information about the committee go to https://www.visionuk.org.uk/standing-committees/children-and-young-people-with-a-vision-impairment-group/ and see below for:
